Some technical requirements of semi solid mold for magnesium alloy:

1) the chemical composition of the alloy shall comply with the requirements of GB/T15114-1994.

2) mechanical properties
When the sample of magnesium alloy mold is tested, the mechanical properties should be in line with the GB/T15114-1994 regulation
When using the magnesium alloy mold body inspection, the mechanical properties of the sample taken at its designated part shall not be less than 75% of the single casting sample. If there are special requirements, the two sides can agree on the mechanical properties of the sample.

3) magnesium alloy die size
The geometry and dimension of the magnesium alloy die shall comply with the requirements of the casting pattern.
The dimension tolerance of magnesium alloy mold shall be carried out according to the provisions of GB/T6414-1999. Special rules and requirements must be noted on the drawings.
Refer to table 5 for the visible tolerance of magnesium alloy mould. The method of marking shall be according to the regulation of GB/T15114-1994.
The tolerance of magnesium alloy mould casting does not include the slope, surface to surface: not inclusive of the small end as a benchmark, is inclusive as big as the benchmark; the surface to be processed: inclusion with big surface to be contained as a benchmark, the small end as a benchmark, there are special provisions and requirements, shall be indicated in the drawings on.

The surface roughness of magnesium alloy mold shall comply with the regulation of GB/T15114-1994.
Magnesium alloy dies are free of cracks, castings, porosity, bubbles and any penetrating defects.
The magnesium alloy die is allowed to have the abrasion, the dent, the flesh and the mesh burr and so on the flaw. However, the extent and quantity of the defects should be consistent with the standards agreed upon by both the supply and demand parties.
The gate, edge, overflow, skin and top mark of the magnesium alloy mold should be cleaned up. But allowed to leave traces.
If the pattern of no special provisions, the relevant part of the semi-solid forming process, such as pole position, parting line, gate position and overflow position self imposed by the manufacturer, otherwise the pattern should be indicated or agreed by both parties.
